Can I live in Holland for a second?

Cultural Oddities: The Netherlands
• The Dutch love sprinkles on toast. They call it “hagelslag”.
• Only 1 hot meal is eaten per day.

It’s true! Hagelslag comes in rainbow colors or chocolate. When I lived in Holland, I used this as an excuse to get my daily chocolate intake before noon.

ABOUT ME I am someone's wife, stepmom, daughter, sister, grandaughter, aunt, and friend. I consider myself one of the most organized people I know. Still. I am a work-in-progress, and I will never say differently. I twist my legs around each other when I'm sitting- it's a weird kind of comfort because I've always done it. My birthday is always my birth-week. It is a grand way to live. I am a hopeless romantic and relentless in so many ways, but I strive to be so in the areas where it counts. And really, just trying to leave a mark on this world.

I always have too much on my plate, but would drop it in a minute to help a complete stranger. I have 12, count 'em, 12, magazine subscriptions. I am sensitive and sentimental, and one day I just might forgive my kindergarten teacher for rushing me through my snowman project.

I breathe a sigh of relief at every destination arrival for which I drove- I am directionally challenged. My husband loves me anyway. I have reluctantly explored just enough of the electronic organization community to conclude paper planners trump it every time. I guess I am just set in my ways. Just like my Grandmothers. To love and to be loved in the purest form is rare, but exists. Trust me. I ask LOTS of questions, and I think talking to one's self is totally normal. I get distracted very easily, so don't take it personally. I truly heart my Public Library and Farmer's Markets- you should, too. And fashion. Sometimes I live in my own little world- don't take that personally either... just come on in. Wherever my feet take me, I always know where home is, and that makes me smile. I am not afraid to take chances, but am overly-cautious just the same.

I think there is something to take from every experience- planned or unplanned- and from every person I meet. Even those I have surrendered to knowing I will never figure out. I wear heels almost always, and I think every Southern Belle should have a set of real pearls. For the most part, you will feel violated if you challenge me to Friends Trivia. I love volunteering, and I attribute my first Hop-A-Thon at the age of 4 as to the start of it all. If we are together, and you have forgotten your hand sanitizer, it's okay. I will have some. I check my face all the time for new wrinkles, but lying on the beach all day is a slice of heaven.

To you. Thanks for taking a moment of your day to visit my page and to share in my random rants, realizations, fashion/food/home inspirations, and thoughts. And remember:
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
